In 2004, my life changed forever.  I gave up the job I loved, teaching art to elementary students, to pursue a dream I have always had, of being a professional artist.  It also seemed like the right time for this venture, due to the sudden onset of several chronic illnesses that left me unable to perform the duties required of me, as a traveling Art Teacher.  Throughout this journey I have learned not only to live with my new level of health, but to thrive in the face of these multiple illnesses.  I have learned to prioritize the time that I am well, and find that I am still very capable of so many things.  I began to look at this chapter in my life not as an end, but a beginning, to create what I have always wanted.

With the support of my family and friends, I have returned to my love of drawing, painting and bringing joy to others through my art and love of animals.

I take great pride in creating a one of a kind portrait of your beloved pet's unique personality.  My own dogs, Mongo (the Basset Hound) and Mackintosh (the Chocolate Lab Mix), are an inspiration for my work.  I love to capture their every silly expression!

As a former Architect, I learned to love space and proportions.  In each work of art I create, I play with these concepts until a pleasing balance is achieved.  Each animal comes with their own set of proportions.  Translated into the portrait, the finished art achieves not only the correct balance in the subject, but also balance in the voids around them.
This can be seen in the portrait of my dog Mongo below:

Proportions of the subject, and Balance of the surrounding void.

As a former Art Teacher I learned the importance of light and shadow in a piece of art.  I watched my student's faces light up every time they added the appropriate shadows to their work, and transformed them from a two dimensional object to a three dimensional one!  Also the interest in a picture lies not only in what you can see, but also in what you can't.
This is shown in the portrait of my dog Mackintosh below:

My Goals
  • To maintain the highest quality standards for my art.
  • To provide the best customer service possible.
  • To allow myself to work at and create what I love, while respecting the requirements to take care of my health needs, as well as being there for my family.

My business was founded in 2006 when my family and I decided it was the right time for me to return to nourishing my creative self.  At the same time I decided to share my art with others who have the same passion for their pets as I have.  Response has been positive, and immediate.  I have, through the requests of friends and clients, expanded my business to incorporate my own artwork into other mediums, such as greeting cards and home accessories.  I hope to exceed your expectations, when you allow me the privilage of immortalizing your beloved pets, and look forward to working closely with you to achieve that goal.

Sincere thanks from myself, my loving husband and my two amazing daughters.
